Das International Software Architecture Qualification Board  (ISAQB) definiert den Begriff „Authentication“ wie folgt:

Unter Authentication versteht man „

Authentication is the process of confirming the claim of an identity by a give
entity. Usually this is done by verifying at least one of the authenticatio
factors which is known by the system:

ownership (e.g. security token)</li

inherence (e.g. biometrics)</li

For a stronger authentication multiple factors can be requested or at leas
factors of two categories.
