Development of a blended bespoke training programme

The Challenge

A global organisation faced the challenge of training employees with widely varying levels of experience, knowledge, and job responsibilities. Existing training programmes were too generic, resulting in disengaged learners and uneven performance outcomes.

The business required a more personalised learning approach—one that could adapt to individual training needs, account for different learning paces, and provide measurable insight into learner progress and impact. There was also a strong emphasis on linking individual performance to role expectations and business objectives, particularly in high-compliance and high-risk environments.

Without a system to assess prior knowledge, target learning interventions, and track individual progress, the organisation lacked visibility into capability development and return on learning investment. Leadership needed a structured yet flexible solution to ensure all employees, regardless of their starting point, could develop the right skills at the right time.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Expleo Academy designed a targeted, blended training programme that combined personalisation with structured delivery.

The engagement began with an initial skills assessment and a series of expert interviews to evaluate each participant’s current knowledge, role context, and development needs. Based on these insights, learners were mapped to one of several tailored learning pathways, each incorporating a blend of classroom training, digital modules, and self-paced activities.

Throughout the programme, participants engaged in interactive sessions, applied knowledge through practical exercises, and received continuous support from subject-matter experts. Final evaluation included both knowledge checks and applied performance reviews, ensuring progress could be tracked against role-specific objectives.

Each learner completed the programme with a personalised Training Passport—a documented summary of acquired competencies and recommended next steps for continued development, aligned with their role and career path.

The Result

The programme led to the successful training, assessment, and certification of 25 participant groups across multiple regions and job functions.

Learners demonstrated a measurable increase in knowledge and confidence, supported by post-training evaluations and applied performance assessments. The personalised approach ensured that each participant received training aligned with their role, experience level, and learning needs.

Importantly, the introduction of the individual training passport enabled the organisation to track development at both the individual and group level. This provided a foundation for ongoing targeted learning, with clear next steps and structured pathways for continued growth—driving long-term capability building across the workforce.

Immersive 360° Training with AI integration

The Challenge

An organisation needed to train a large, geographically dispersed workforce in a way that would improve engagement, retention, and practical understanding. Traditional classroom or static e-learning formats proved insufficient for delivering consistent results at scale—particularly for technical procedures and safety-critical tasks.

The organisation sought a realistic, scalable, and interactive training environment that would bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, especially in contexts where real-world training was limited by safety, cost, or availability.

There was a clear need for a solution that could:

The Solution

Expleo Academy designed and developed an immersive e-learning module built around realistic 360° visual environments. The solution allowed learners to explore simulated workspaces through guided navigation, engaging in context-rich scenarios that reflected real-world challenges and procedures.

Key learning tasks were embedded as interactive exercises, allowing users to make decisions, perform safety checks, or follow process steps in a controlled yet lifelike setting. To enhance feedback and personalisation, the module incorporated an AI-controlled avatar, which reviewed learner actions, provided real-time guidance, and reinforced key learning points.

This approach enabled a consistent, engaging, and scalable training experience across global teams—delivering high-impact learning without the need for physical training environments or instructor-led sessions.

The Result

The immersive learning solution resulted in a highly engaging and scalable training experience for large, globally distributed learner groups.

Participation rates significantly increased, driven by the interactive format and visual realism of the 360° environment. Learners reported greater confidence in applying procedures and a clearer understanding of safety protocols and decision-making processes.

The use of the AI-controlled avatar enabled consistent and immediate feedback, which contributed to improved learner satisfaction and measurable gains in knowledge retention. Post-training evaluations showed marked improvement in both user engagement and assessment performance compared to previous training formats.

The organisation now uses this solution as a standard component of onboarding and refresher training, with the flexibility to adapt or expand content for future training needs.
