Day 2: Get to know your data
• Lesson 1:
o Power BI Power Query
o Clean your data
o Using visuals to assess data quality
• Lesson 2:
o What to look for in your data with Power BI
o Transform your data in Power BI – creating your analytical base table (ABT)
o Classified and Unclassified data
• Group & Individual Exercise
o Load your data
o What visuals would you use to describe your data in Power BI?

Day 3: Model your data
• Lesson 1
o Business to Data Understanding
o Initial statistical investigative techniques
o Business Question to model mapping
• Lesson 2:
o What can Power BI do?
o What can Power BI not do?
o Using analytical visualisations
• Group & Individual Exercise:
o Load more data in Power BI
o Choose your analytical models
o Present your analytical models

Day 4: Present your data
• Lesson 1:
o Know your audience
o Preparing your data to present to your audience
o What insight can your data give?
o What action do you want your audience to take?
• Group & Individual Exercise:
o Load New data to Power BI
o Agree on the business question
o Assess the data
o Present your analysis

Day 5: Workshop
• Bring your own data
• What are your questions?
• Can you load your data?
• How good is your data?
• Can Power BI help answer your questions?

Prerequisites

Participants are required to have at least a trial version of Power BI desktop tested and working on their laptop in advance of the course.

A short list of industry white papers will be provided to give delegates a background on the course material. A solid familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint is required.

NB: A link will be sent via email to a Power BI Tutorial that course attendees will be expected to view in advance of the training. This is an important requirement to ensure that all delegates have a baseline familiarity with the context of the course and Power BI in advance.
